� � ', ' RE�ULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JUNE 30 , 1980 Page 5 Diane Goetten, Park Commission member, was present VACATION to discuss the Park Commission ' s recommendation 1345 North Arm Drive concerning the unimproved public access at North #544 Arm Drive and Park Drive . Fred Ryan was also present. Fred Ryan Park Commission Minutes - May 6 , 1980 Fred Ryan appeared before the Park Commission regarding a piece of unimproved public access and park land at the intersection of North Arm Drive and Park Drive . The area has become unsafe for neighborhood children due to its use by speeding cars and dirt bikes. Mr . Ryan requested that either the City maintain the area by fencing it or vacate the property to Ryan who would see to its upkeep. ' A motion was made by Goetten, seconded by Watson to retain park land and combine with unused public access to create a more feasible neighborhood park area. Area must be fenced and maintained by the City. Motion was unanimously passed. Council Meeting - June 30 , 1980 After discussion, the City Council requested John Gerhardson, Public Works Coordinator , to check out the property in question� to make recommendations to enhance the property� and to check with Hennepin County regarding guard rails. Mayor Van Nest moved, Hurr seconded, to table the request of Fred Ryan, 1345 North Arm Drive , for a vacation of the unimproved public access at the intersection of North Arm Drive and Park Drive until John Gerhardson, Public Works Coordinator, recommends a plan to enhance the property but not to consider it as a City park. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0 ) . No comments from the Lake Minnetonka Conservation LMCD REPORT District Representative. No comments from the Planning Commission. PLANNING COMMISSION Mayor Van Nest informed the City Council that COMPREHENSIVE PLAN Orono ' s Comprehensive Plan had been submitted to the Metropolitan Council on June 20 , 1980 . Hurr moved, Butler seconded, to table until the HENNEPIN COUNTY PLAN next Council meeting the Hennepin County Plan REVIEW Review item. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
