Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> Dick Benson, City Administrator, entered into I/I STUDY REPORT* <br /> the record the following concerning an I/I Study <br /> dated April 9 , 1980 , which states: <br /> The Metropolitan Waste Control Commission, as <br /> part of its 201 facilities planning program, has <br /> identified 31 communities that are eligible to <br /> participate in a detailed infiltration/inflow <br /> (I/I) analysis program. Orono is one of these <br /> communities. The Orono City Council authorized <br /> the City to submit a letter to the Metropolitan <br /> Waste Control Commission requesting that Orono <br /> be included as a participant in further I/I studies. <br /> The Metropolitan Waste Control Commission has <br /> applied for, and has received, approval from the <br /> Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for State and <br /> Federal grants to allow cities to conduct detailed <br /> I/I analysis. The U.S. Environr.►ental Protection <br /> Agency is now reviewing the grant application. <br /> The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will fund <br /> 75g , State 150, local cities must provide 10� as <br /> the local share of the study cost. <br /> The MPCA has allocated $1,000 ,000 in the fis�,al <br /> year 1980 for the I/I study. Additional funding <br /> will have to be provided for future sewer system <br /> evaluation surveys and eventual rehabilitation <br /> of the systems, if needed. All public notices <br /> have been provided for. The City of Orono will <br /> administer the entire program. The MWCC has the <br /> burden of administering the grant process and <br /> subsequent accounting of grant expenditures, <br /> providing 10$ of the local share of administrative <br /> costs , and reporting to the MPCA and EPA. <br /> Engineering companies have been in contact with <br /> the City and the City is in the process of selecting <br /> an engineering firm to continue the I/I. This <br /> process is designed to help us obtain the best <br /> possible engineering services at a fair and <br /> reasonable cost. <br /> Step #1 will be to enter into an agreement with an <br /> engineering firm. <br /> (Continued) <br />
