RF'GULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUrdCIL, P1RCH 10 , 1980 Page 15
Dick Benson, City Aciministrator, presented the CRYSTAL BAY POST OFFICE
City Council with the following letter to the
United States Post Office , Gene H. Kreienbrink,
Postmaster, dated March 5 , 1980 , which states :
"Thank you for responding to our inquiry regarding
establishing postal deliveries for the City of
Orono out of the Long Lake post office.
LVe have had the oportunity to discuss this briefly
with the mayors of Long Lake and Minnetonka Beach
and there is an interest to pursue this concept
in more detai.l.
Pr. Burt Peterson suggested a meeting with the
delivery service supervisors might be helpful
allowing us to evaluate the entire concept.
Options are few and it appears that in discussions
with the present postmaster r4abel Belt and her
desires to retire July of this year, the expiration
of the present lease December l, 1980 and the
postal department' s desires not to construct or
purchase a building, it would be timel_y to pursue
consolidation of postal delivery services, at this
time, for the entire Orono area. P]e would accomplish
what has been desired for many years and that is
a simplification of the postal service for the
La}ce Minnetonka area.
We will be available to meet with you and your
staff at your convenience to discuss this further.
Again, thank you for your assistance. If there
is other information I can provide for you, please
feel free to contact r.me at my office, 473-7357. "
Walter R. Benson
Mayor Van Nest moved, Butler seconded, to approve
the above letter to the United States Post Office ,
Gene H. Kreienbrink, Postmaster, dated March 5,
1980 , concerning the Crystal Bay Post Office.
Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Mayor Van Nest moved, Butler seconded, to reaffirm RESOLUTION #737 -
Resolution #737 , A Resolution Regarding The Proposed Reaffirm
Future Construction Of The Joint Independent School Vo-Tech #287
District No. 287 Area Vocational-Technical School
Located On The South Boundary Of The City Of Medina,
' adopted December 13, 1976. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Butler moved, Massengale seconded, to approve the VO-TECH #287 LETTER
following letter to Dr. Richard E.
