The attached information you submitted does not meet the City's requirements. The City's requirement is that all walls over 4 ft in height are designed and signed off on by a registered professional engineer. Walls less than 4 ft and are not separated by at least twice the height of the lower wall are considered one wall. The design should be submitted for review prior to the construction of the wall. In this case that was not done. We need either a signed design that was used or if one was not done then a report signed by a licensed engineer showing the wall designed properly. The design and or report should contain sufficient detail for someone in the future looking at the property file to understand what was built. A typical retaining wall design contains information about the soil the wall is retaining,the type of fill used,the wall material,the foundation of the wall, any drainage mechanisms in the wall, and the type and location of any geogrid reinforcement. Normally we also receive a cross section drawing of a typical section in the walt. The above information is one of the items needed to close out the building permit application.
