Box 66 <br /> Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br /> Dear Dick, <br /> Thank you for your letter of January 8 regarding the time schedule for the installation <br /> of a semaphore at the intersection of Highway 12 and Old Crystal Bay Road. Please <br /> be assured that the Board and I are extremely pleased that all of you in the City of <br /> Orono have worked so vigorously to assist us in providing the safest intersection pos- <br /> sible in this location. Many members of your group and of the school group have <br /> worked together for almost fifteen years to achieve this goal thot appears will become <br /> a reality approximately mid-summer 1981 . It is obvious that a high level of coopera- <br /> tion and tenacity will again enable us to make the Orono area a safer and a better <br /> place to live and work. <br /> Your primary request is that the Orono School Distiict participate in the funding nec- <br /> essary for land acquisition for this installation. Our Board has very briefly discussed <br /> the potential for this cooperative participation but has not studied the situation care- <br /> fully nor made any definite commitment. I believe it is appropriate that I place the <br /> topic of cooperative land acquisition participation on the school board agenda for <br /> discussion and possibly a preliminary determination at the January 21, 1980 Board <br /> Meeting. It would be most helpful to us if you could let us know the percentage of <br /> expected school participation�in the land acquisition project so that we might study <br /> our budget and make preliminary plans for any significant expediture. I would expect <br /> we would need to know the exact dollar amount necessary before a final commitment <br /> by the Board would be made. <br /> If it is possible, would you please let me know by Tuesday noon, January 15, 1980 <br /> what the City of Orono feels an equitable cooperative land ocquisition share for the <br /> school district would be. li= I am temporarily out of the offiee, would you please <br /> DR.
