Frankman: T4e have spent a-Yot of mone1� leading <br /> us to tonight' s meeting documenting the uses o.f <br /> marinas in this area. �ae believe that a rezoninq <br /> would take away values from the property. <br /> Mayor Van Nest: I do not believe your statement <br /> is true. Orono has also spent a lot of money <br /> attempting to work with Mr. P�IcCleary. The Stubbs <br /> Bay area is a rural area, its character is residential. <br /> A full .scale comriercial marina has never operated <br /> at Stubbs Bay and would cause dir,tinution in values <br /> of residential hoMes in the area. <br /> Mr. Frankman: �ahat this proves to me, is that the <br /> City Council will not approve of_ any structure on <br /> this property. <br /> Mayor Van Nest: You are wrong, t4r. Frankrlan, and <br /> we will not be taken in by your cute question. This <br /> proPerty has never operated as a full-scale comriercial <br /> marina. It princi�ally has operated as a smal� sanc�- <br /> wich, beer, and dock rental oneration. "'his is an <br /> unusually sensitive area. This is a filled wetlands <br /> Y area. There is no adec�uate transPortation no_r <br /> utilities. The Bay itself will not sustain a full- <br /> scale riarina operation. A rezoning would not take <br /> values away from the property. <br /> Mr. Frankman: The propert_y in question has been <br /> used cor�r►ercially for 50 years and if the pro�erty <br /> is reduced to residential uses, I disagree that the <br /> property would increase in value. , <br /> Mayor Van P1est: The DrdR and all other ac�encies <br /> have documented that a marina use in the area would <br /> be detrimental to this Lake. ��Te would work with <br /> you if you want to work with us.
