I have been to the site to observe the existing <br /> conditions and have performed calculations in accordance with the Minnesota State Building Code for the <br /> proposed addition and modification to this structure. You provided me with copies of floor plans from the <br /> original building and a copy of the plans, elevations and sections for the proposed new construction. <br /> As a result of my review and calculations I have found that the existing footings and foundations will be <br /> capable of supporting the anticipated loads from the new construction when repairs have been made to <br /> correct the cracking of the masonry foundation walls. <br /> I have provided you with drawings numbered S1 thru S4 that illustrate several options for repair of these <br /> walls. I have also provided you with a plan drawing that illustrates the modifications to be made to the <br /> existing first floor framing that will allow you to eliminate the columns in the basement.
