REGULAR iZFETING OF TIiE ORONO CnUNCIL, SF.PmE*'[BER 25, 1979 Page 11 <br /> Alan Olson, City Planner, presented a status report COPu�UNITY HEALTI�* <br /> concerning Hennepin County Corununitv Health, dated Hennepin County Report <br /> September 17 , 1979 , ���hich states: <br /> I had a meeting this morning with Roger Carlson <br /> and John Urbach of F�ennepin County to discuss <br /> the County' s expanding role in environmental <br /> health. <br /> The State Health DePartment is changing its <br /> role frori an inspection a�ency to a resource <br /> ac�encv with all health rec�ulation enforcer.►ent <br /> being shifted to local units o� government. <br /> Hennepin County has stepped in with an active <br /> �rogram of cor.u�unitv health services �•�hich <br /> should provide benefits to all cities like <br /> Orono which have no facilities f_�r local <br /> enforcement. <br /> The County has prepared ordinances for food <br /> service, lodging establishments, nublic swiruning <br /> pools and children' s camps. ^hese ordinances <br /> are proposed for hearing in October with final <br /> adoption in Nover.lber or Decertber. �nforcement <br /> including licensing �•�ill be a County function, <br /> the same as prior State involvement, but �vith <br /> a more accessible administration. <br /> The �roposals a�pear well written and should <br /> benefit Orono residents by assuring better _ <br /> health standards in local restaurants, as well <br /> as uniform standards for other establishments <br /> in the western suburbs used by our residents <br /> as ��ell. There is no direct cost to the Citv. <br /> t�lr. Glenn Cook, City Engineer, discussed the MINNETONKP, BLUFFS-WEST <br /> Piinnetonka Bluffs-��est Ferndale proposed se�aer FERTIDALE PROPOSFD �EWERS <br /> areas commenting that the public information <br /> r.►eeting held September 17 , 1979 indicated a <br /> favorable response to the identified sewer <br /> problems and a need for municipal sewers in <br /> the area. <br /> t4ayor Van Nes� r.toved, Pdassengale seconded, to <br /> direct the City Engineer to bring a nroposed <br /> outline of a feasibility study costs to the <br /> October 16, 1979 Council meetin_q. P4otion, <br /> Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> Dick Benson, City Aclministrator, inf_orried the <br /> City Council that Piary Rivers, 1442 Shoreline <br /> Drive, has agreed to work with the City in <br /> pursuing State or Federal funding assistance <br /> for the proposed sewer project. <br />
