Schriitt to be paid in full <br /> on January 2 , 1980, including 8g interest. <br /> The Pririus property has been negotiated at $3 , 500 <br /> an acre for two plus acres. The purchase should <br /> be completed this week. <br /> These properties were approved for negotiations <br /> and acquisitions. I do want Council approval of <br /> these final purchases. - <br /> Council r�Ieeting - August 14, 1979 <br /> Butler moved, Paurus seconded, to approve the <br /> acquisition and payment for ring route properties - <br /> in the amounts of $9 ,052. 56 to Robert Compton and <br /> $60, 000 to Joe Schmitt, per the above memo. 2lotion, <br /> A��es (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> Dick Benson, City Administrator, presented the City SEWER & �9ATER n�ATE� * <br /> Council with a memo concerning the Orono School Orono School District <br /> District Water & Sewer Rates, dated August 8, 1979 , <br /> which states: <br /> Most of you are aware of the pressure applied by the <br /> Orono School District to receive a reduction in their <br /> water and sewer rates over the years. �Ve he�d <br /> several staff and Council meetings. The final results <br /> being we denied the school a rate reduction based <br /> . upon the theory that we should be consistent and <br /> apply our rates as fair and equitable as possible <br /> and not reduce rates tq a high volume user but encourage <br /> them to conserve energy and natural resources. <br /> We did receive a reduction in water rates from the <br /> City of Long Lake which are passed on to the Orono <br /> school. <br /> This year, the School District renewed their efforts <br /> to receive a sewer rate reduction and engaged the <br /> L9. F. Kelly law firm to request of the i�4etropolitan <br /> Waste Control Commission, who are responsible for <br /> reviewing and approving sewer rates, to determine if <br /> our sewer charges to a "public user" were justified. <br /> (Continued) <br />
