Orono' s position is that Orono cannot take away 31 sewer units to c�ive to a developr:lent in another City when Orono has many acres of undeveloped land and requests for the sewer units in the same vicinitv. Orono intends to use the units for er:lergency service� only and not for further developr,lents as the capacity is not large.. enough to handle additional developr.lents. IJocv that the well has been pulled and inspected, it has been determined that tYie cost for repairs for colur�ns , bearings , shafting and motor will ar.lount to $15, 616. 75 which includes standbl� punps during . repairs and labor. The increase for repairs only ariounts to $8, 716 . 75. Because of the condition of Well #l, we are i�lost fortunate to have inspected it noca rather than to have waited until next winter. There is no question that we would have had a r:lajor breakdown this summer during our peak use. tJe are replacing the shaft with stainless steel rather than carbon steel in order to receive a longer life frorn the well.
