REGULAR P'iEETING OF THE ORONO COUI�JCIL, FEBRUARY 13, 1979 Page 34 Dick Benson, City Adr.iinistrator, presented the �9EIGHT RESTRICTIONS* City Council with a �►er.to from John Gerhardson, Public Works Coordinator, concerning seasonal weight restrictions dated February 6, 1979, which states: Attached is a resolution of recor,u*iended axle �ae�c�ht limit restrictions for each City street. The streets will be posted fror.i 2iarch 15 through 2'iay 15, 1979. The norr.ial length of time that restrictions are in effect is related to weather conditions. Certain streets might be closed to school buses if a street becomes impassable. In the past several years , we have allowed solid waste haulers to continue their normal operations, lir.iiting therl to gross weight on any single axle of seven tons or 14 ,000 pounds. If a street shows signs of severe breakup, we will lirlit the solid waste haulers to sr.ialler vehicles. I have drafted a resolution for the 1979 weight lir.iits for Council approval. . Dick Benson, City Adrtinistrator, recommended to ASSISTAr7T CHIEF OF POLIC the City Council that Mr. �Jinton Burmaster be Winton Burmaster appointed to the position of Assistant Chief. The City of Orono has eliminated one sergeant position and in order to create a team effort � within the organization and encourage administrative leadership, this position becomes necessary. The City will not create another sergeant position in the for2seeable . future. P4r. Burmaster' s present salary will not change and he will continue working shifts.
