REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JtJNE 29, 1978 Page 17
Bruce Douglas, representing P4r. Gayle Wittig, GAYLE' S rZARIPdA
cor.mented that 1`4r. 47ittig is out of town. We do
aant to deal with the dock length and have
requested fror.► the DNR a list of items that we
are not in ompliance with. I would be happy
to discuss with you and staff at a later date
these concerns. It appears to me, continued
Mr. Douglas, that there aresome inconsistencies
with this body, the LPCD and the DNR.
North Star Marina owner Paul Kempf was present NORTH STAR MARINA
representing North Star Marina. P2r. Kempf referred
to his letter to the City of Orono, dated June 26,
1978, which states:
"Enclosed is a copy of my letter to Ron Harnack
of Department of Plattzral Resources regarding our
April 21 meeting and his letter to me on which
you were copied.
As I stated we are confused as to the extent of
DNR involvement and how it relates to that of
Orono and Lake Ptinnetonka Conservation District.
I feel these = questions must be answered prior to
detailing out any plan to assure our compliance
in the long run with the multiple agencies we
-pparently have to deal with.
Please advise me of how Orono views the recent
DNR involvement and how it affects our relationship
and the development of our property. "
Paul Kempf' s letter to Ronald Harnack, DNR, dated
June 26 , 1978, which states:
"This letter is in response to your communication
of May 26, 1978 regarding "Marina Compliance" .
We have been in consultation with our attorneys
regarding the points raised in your letter as well
as the more general nature of Department of Natural
Resources involvement in regulating various aspects
of Lake D4innetonka. Any discussions or action
r.tust certainly also take into consideration the
complexities of Orono and Lake Minnetonka Conservation
District regulations combined with those of the
DNR and our own interests.
For these reasons, a formal reply shall be forthcoming
within a short time as soon as these interrelatianships
can be more clearly sorted. The recent, sudden
thrust of DNR into our situation just demands more
;ime to evaluate.
(Continued)
