Staff intends to proceed w� th the necessary steps to have the area properl;� cleaned up. This item will be agended for the first meeting in August, 1978. Mr. Alan Olson, City Planner, informed the City SEWER CONNECTIONS Council in a memo dated June 19 , 1978 , stating that attached is a list of 125 properties which have not been connected to available sanitary sewer. Many are lakeshore properties. Orono Ordinances require connection within sixteen (16) months of service availability and State regulations require connection within two years of availability. Some of these properties have had sewer available for 15 years. All buildings in this situation have, by Ordinance and Statute, been declared public nuisances and hazardous buildings which may be condemned for occupancy upon 30-day notice. Al1 owners (or past owners) have received one or more City notices over the vears. � would like the City Council to review this matter and take official action requesting staff to enforce these required connections. The first step will be mailing of notices similar to th�t attached. Mr. Alan Olson, City Planner, discussed the recent FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM Flood Insurance Program submitted to us_ Mayor Van Nest commented that this latest informa- tion was not consistent with previous meetings held with the flood insurance people and that their proposed ordinance did not meet our present ordinance. Butler moved, D'tayor Van Nest seconded, to forward Orono' s Wetlands Ordinance No. 125 and letter to hem. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) .
