March 13 , 1978 <br /> Letter - Page 62 <br /> Mr. Benson also info nned tne City Council that <br /> Mr. Robert r�azanec, Senior Planner of the <br /> Metropolitan Council, called on March 14 , 1978 <br /> at 9 : 30 A. M, and agreed to delay until March 30, <br /> 1978 his report to the Physical Development <br /> Cor,unittee and also to extend the public hearing <br /> deadliile to March 30 to allow the City to respond • _ <br /> to Mr. John Boland. <br /> Dick Benson, City Adr.�inistrator, presented to the 73-1 CLAI►�i <br /> City Council a memo fror.l John Gerhardson, Public Earl Pike <br /> Works Coordinator, concerning the 73-1 clairl of 830 Windjammer Lane <br /> Earl Pike, 830 Windjammer Lane, dated February 23 , <br /> 1978, which states : <br /> �n November of 1977, the Orono City Council <br /> authorized payment to Mr. Earl Pike, 830 Windjar�uner <br /> Lane, in the amount of $575. 00 for restoration to <br /> his property from the 73-1 sewer construction <br /> project. <br /> After reviewing Mr. Pike' s claim with the Orono <br /> City Attorney, Bruck P7alkerson, it was discovered <br /> that D4r. Pike had not signed the necessary easement <br /> grants to the City of Orono. It was agreed by <br /> the staff that the easement grants should be <br /> signed by Mr. Pike before payment was made for <br /> the restoration. <br /> On December 22 , 1977, all necessary forr.is were sent <br /> to Mr. Pike along with instructions. On February 13, <br /> 1978, I contacted r1r. Pike and asked him why he <br /> had not returned the documents. Mr. Pike stated <br /> that the City of Orono had not paid hir.l for the <br /> easement and he would not sign anything until he <br /> had received the amount agreed upon at the time i <br /> of construction. � <br /> After checking with the Finance Director, it was <br /> determined that P4r. Pike had received $600. 00 for i <br /> the easer.�ent on January 14 , 1975 and that the ! <br /> check had been cashed. On February 14, 1978 , I <br /> informed P�ir. Pike that it must have been an over- (Continuen) <br />
