Design of the Orono-Long Lake interceptor <br /> 2. The Orono Comprehensive Sewer Plan - <br /> 3. The Metropolitan Council ' s Systems Statement <br /> After getting all this inforr*�ation together, I find that the size <br /> of this docur.�entation is over a foot and a half in height, and in <br /> order to facilitate your review, I will attempt to highlight the <br /> important issues in this memo. <br /> 1968: - During the spring of 1968, the Minnesota Pollution Control <br /> issued a mandate that the sewage effluent from the seven waste <br /> � <br /> water treatsnent plants within the LaY.e iiinnetorika watershed district <br /> shall be removed totally from the watershed. A study was instituted i <br /> cooperation with the I.ake Minnetonka Conservation District entitled <br /> . The Harza Report. <br /> 1971: The 2-Setropolitan taaste Control Commission designed the Orono- <br /> Long Lake interceptor which was a large gravity system that not only <br /> rerioved the effluent from the Orono and I,ong Lake sewage plants, but <br /> provided a r,iajor collection system within the City of Orono to <br /> facilitate its clevelopment to a projected population of in excess <br /> of 35, 000- people.
