' REGULAR P��ETING OF THE OROrJO COUPiCIL, JAP7UARY 9, 1978 Page 31 <br /> Dick IIenson, City Administrator, commented that PARATRANSIT - LAKE <br /> he is in receipt of a letter from the P�etropolitan P4INNETOrdKA <br /> Transit Commission, dated Deceriber 29 , 1977, <br /> which states: <br /> "In 1977, the State of P4innesota authorized a <br /> paratransit service demonstration grant program <br /> to plan, promote, demonstrate and evaluate the <br /> effectiveness, cost and efficiency of paratransit <br /> as a means of 1) serving areas inadequately <br /> served by regular transit, 2) improving the <br /> accessibility and productivity of regular transit, <br /> and 3) providing improved service to transit <br /> dependents. <br /> The P1TC has determined that these objectives <br /> could be realized by a paratransit system serving <br /> the Lake P4innetonka Area. A preliminary application <br /> (attached) for his system was approved by the <br /> Comriission at its meeting of December 21, 1977, <br /> and subsequently submitted to the P�Iinnesota <br /> Department of Transportation (r4n/DOT) for review <br /> and consideration. <br /> A copy of this proposal has also been sent to the <br /> members of the Cor.lmunity Advisory Committee of <br /> the t9estern Hennepin Route Ridership Ir►provement <br /> Project who expressed interest in being made aware <br /> of any future transit plans for the Lake P4innetonka <br /> Area. <br /> Assuming that Mn/DOT will approve the preliminary <br /> application, it is our plan to consult with your <br /> City or your representative relative to implementin_q <br /> this paratransit system, and therefore, would <br /> appreciate your preliminary comments regarding <br /> any aspect of this proposal. <br /> If you need any additional information, please <br /> contact Bob Pearson at 221-0939, extension 153. <br /> Camille Andre <br /> Chief Administrator <br /> End of letter <br /> Prelininary Application for Lake Piinnetonka <br /> Paratransit attached: <br /> Pages 32-37 (Continued) <br />
