Gregory Coward, 1950 Iieritage Drive, (Continued) <br /> dated January 3, 1978 , which states: <br /> This is to request that a discussion of Orono' s <br /> plans for a bikeway system and the application <br /> for a grant from the tsinnesota DepartrZent of <br /> Transportation be placed on the Council' s agenda <br /> for the 9th of January. <br /> I am specifically interested in the follovainc� <br /> issues : <br /> 1. Can a trail system along County 15 be designed <br /> so as not to adversely alter the character of <br /> the road system as it now exists or as it is <br /> envisioned in the future? <br /> 2. �Have minimum aesthetic requirements for the <br /> lake frontage been established? Given the • <br /> funds involved, can such requirements be met? <br /> 3. �dhy is it felt that a bikeway syster.l represents <br /> a reasonable expenditure, given competing needs? <br /> [9hat evidence establishes Orono' s desire/need <br /> for a bikeway system? <br /> End of letter <br /> Council D2eeting - January 9 , 1978 <br /> Councilman Pesek stated that this proposal is <br /> not realistic and would only create problems for <br /> kids and bikes, as well as cars on County Road #15. <br /> P4ayor Van Nest commented that this is not an actual <br /> approval of any bike trails, only a prelirminary <br /> plan. _, <br /> Paurus r.ioved, Butler seconded, to submit to Hennepin <br /> County this proposed plan to be included in future <br /> planning as a concept of a proposed plan. r4otion, <br /> Ayes (4) - Nays (1) .
