Van Nest <br /> Ci ty Counci L�r��;��bers <br /> RE: Aooption of an official map <br /> S Our File Nw-nber 3643-047 <br /> De-ar Nayor and Councilmc���bers: <br /> The City Council at its last meeting directed the City Attorney <br /> to review the r�quir�,��ents for the adoption of the official map, <br /> esoecially in recard to the proposed development on Big Island <br /> in Laxe N,innetonka. Ir,stead of providing you with a memorandum <br /> � from this office outlining the procedures, etc, relating to the <br /> acioption of the official map, I have enclosed herein a copy of <br /> the League of Ninnesota Cities ' rnemorandum on official maps. <br /> � As noted therein and in the statute, an official map cannot <br /> be adopted until a major thorougnfare plan and a community <br /> facilities plan have been adopted. The City of Orono has <br /> neither. Although a "major thoroughfare plan" is not defined <br /> � in the statute, �he general intent thereof can be gleaned from <br /> � a reading of the definition of "transportation plan" which is <br /> included herein. <br /> The definition of "co���munity facilities plan" is also included <br /> � herein. I recc��Jnend that the City Council consider directing <br /> the city staff to develop the transportation plan, communi- <br /> ties facilities plan and capital irnprovement plan as soon as <br /> possible so that the official map can be adopted thereafter. <br /> Tne above plans are necessary in order to achieve other land <br /> � use planning objectives. These items should also be included <br /> and related to in the future comprehensive municipal plan or <br /> land use plan. <br /> � <br />
