r
e, RE'GULAF2 MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, AUGUST 22 , 1977 Page 17
r Planning Commission Pleeting - August 15 , 1977 VARIANCE
320 Woodhill Road
rr. White was present. Restated the items in (Continued)
his letter to the Council dated ,7uly 22 , 1977.
He stated that he had no hardships other than
economical or personal design wishes. He
wishes to maximize the distance between the
existing house and the proposed house. The
Planning Cor,unission was sympathetic, but since
owner could present no physical hardships,
. Commission recommended denial.
 Council Meeting - August 22 , 1977
Mr. Charles White, representing Mr. Robert ahite,
submitted a letter to the City Council, which
 states :
` "A business trip again prevents me from appearing
before you. My son, Charles White, represents
me in my request for a variance on an outlot at
my homestead, 320 Woodhill Road. Such request
was denied last week by the Planning Commission.

I seek relief from their decision based on the
reasoning of my July 22 , 1977 letter to you.
r4y reasoning is:
 l. The variance affects no one except me.
 2. Neither neighbors nor the Woodhill Country
 Club have objected.
3. The lot line affected has been a woods,
 _literally forever.
4. There is one suitable building site on the
• lot.
• 5. It dictates the need to place a new structure
as far away from the present house as possible
 to preserve its value.
6. Two architects, Peter Hall of P4inneapolis and
Robert Gaede of Cleveland, Ohio have stated
that unless a variance can be obtained a
structure should not be erected. "
`f' End of letter
Pesek moved, Butler seconded, to table the request
for a variance for Robert F. White, 320 Woodhill
Road, until the meeting of September 12 , 1977, to
allow the applicant to document hardship. Motion,
Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
