' CITY OF ORONO <br /> � Budget Meeting of the Orono Council, 7: 30 P.M. <br /> October 2 , 1975 <br /> � The Orono Council met on the above date with <br /> the following members present: Mayor Searles, <br /> Councilmembers Butler, Massengale, Paurus, <br /> and Welsh. Also present: Cy Smythe and Dick <br /> Benson. <br /> � <br /> Mr. Cy Smythe of Labor Negotiations & Associates, POLICE NEGOTIATIONS <br /> representing the City of Orono in the police <br /> negotiations , reported to the City Council the <br /> ' Local #320 Union Contract demands for City <br /> policy for 1975 salaries and benefits. Mr. <br /> � Smythe pointed out that the salary demands for <br /> 1975 indicate a 16% increase plus a 6% increase <br /> for other benefits. Mr. Smythe continued to <br /> explain that Orono is not included in Group #5 <br /> � or inner city classification, but are classified <br /> as Group #6 or as an outer suburb. <br /> � It was the consensus of the City Council and <br /> Administrator that in view of Orono' s reduction <br /> ` in revenues creating deficits for 1975 and 1976 <br /> and the subsequent curtailment of other programs, <br /> our abilities to pay these increased demands are <br /> not available. <br /> � Massengale moved, Butler s�conded, to instruct MEDIATION <br /> Mr. . Smythe to prepare for_ mediation. Motion, <br /> , Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . <br /> � <br /> Councilperson Mary Butler reported to the City CORPS OF ARMY <br /> � Council information she received from the League ENGINEERS LETTER <br /> of Minnesota Municipalities relating to the <br /> '� Corps of Engineer' s jurisdictional powers. <br /> • Councilpersons Butler and Welsh will draft a <br /> letter for Council action to be forwarded to <br /> � the Corps of Army Engineers at a later date. <br /> Butler moved, Paurus seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION #642 <br /> � Resolution #642 , A Resolution Approving 1976 Tax Levy <br /> The 1976 Tax Levy Collectible In 1976. <br /> � Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) . <br /> � <br /> Butler moved, Searles seconded, to adopt STREET LIGHT <br /> the Street Light Assessments, SL-1, 1968 ASSESSMENTS <br /> � and SL-1, 1970.
