We have r_un a telc�vi.sion camera through the pipe in an attempt to find out how serious tt-ic dr�maqe is and we were unable to run the camera the completc� lenc3th of= the pipe. All that we got were pictures of water so we have a scrious brc��k in the pipe that needs to be repaired. Th=i_s probl�m beqan i.n I_968 , according to Dick Benson, has slowly been qettinq worse anc3 the timc� now has eome to repair it. I would recommena to the Counci_ 1 tF��at �a m<�t i_on k>e made chanqi_ng the Council meeting to Tuc�sd�iy, May 28 , ly'74 , 11DDT'1'�ION11t.� C(1MML:N`['S You wil l be glad to know that Marc Whi tc>he�id , t3crn i�� Mi ttelsteadt, and rnyseli appeared before the Ptiysical D�velo��ment Cc�mmi.ttee of the Metropolitan Council on Wednesday of this week to testify on behalf of the Orono- Long Lake interceptor sewer line and making �z portion of Orono ' s sewer line as a Metropolitan interceptor line, due to thc fact th�t we are going to be handling eventually the effluent from Minn�tonka I�each. The committee voted unanimously in favor of moving ahead with the Orono-Long Lake interceptor line and it is my understanding t:hat canst.r.ucti_on will begin this year. We also got some encouragement from Mr. Ki_ngs7_ey Murphy to the f.act that the sewer bo�rd and thc� staff was slowly l�ut surely coming around to the fact that Orono may be justifi.ed in declaring a portion of its sewer line as an interceptor, due to thc� fact th�t it will handle Minnetonka Beach. On this issue of Minnetonk�a f3E�ach we have always had some pr.oblems with the sewer board and st��ff, k�ut= it appe�irs that a change of mind is beginning to occur. I was very plc�ased with that hearing and very optimistic now about our situations with the sf�wc�r boa.rd and the Metropolitan Council itself.
