Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN 55323
Dear Mr. Gerhart:
Re: Compaction Testing for the Proposed Fuel Tank Pad, Public Works Parking Area,
Orono Public Works Building, Orono, Minnesota
For a review of previous work we had performed please refer to our letter to you dated
February 3, 1993. Briefly, in that letter we recommended removing frozen, saturated soils
from below the slab area. Grade could be reattained with a granular soil compacted to a
minimum of 98 percent of the standard Proctor density (ASTM D 698).
This letter is to summarize the compaction testing which was performed on 7une 15, 1993, for
the proposed fuel tank pad at the above-referenced site. Two compaction tests were taken in
the proposed fuel tank pad area, with compaction test results ranging from 99 1/2 to 101
percent of standard Proctor density (ASTM D 698-91).
Based on the results of our previous work and on our recent compaction tests, it is our opinion
the engineered fill soil is suitable for support of the proposed fuel tank pad.
General
Services performed by Braun Intertec for this project have been conducted in a manner
consistent with that level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of the profession
currently practicing in this area under similar budget and time restraints.
