CITY OF ORONO <br /> Fire Marshal <br /> March 9,2004 <br /> To;Ron Morse,Lyle Oman <br /> Re;Fire inspections at city buildings, <br /> Notice of fire code violations <br /> Dear Sirs, <br /> A fire inspection done previously at City of Orono buildings located at 2750 Kelly Parkway(City Hall and Police <br /> Department)and 2700 Kelly Parkway(City Maintenance Garage)found the following fire code violations relating to the <br /> Minnesota State Fire Code.(MSFC) <br /> City hall building- <br /> A;3a-Fire separations maintained-MSFC,Chapter 7, Section 703.1,(enclosed)—Sheet rock has been removed for repairs in <br /> the upper level storage areas in city hall.This shall be replaced and repaired.If access doors are added for these areas,they <br /> can be used as storage rooms. <br /> B;4b-No combustible storage in mechanical rooms-MSFC,Chapter 3, Section 315.2.3,(enclosed)—The wooden shelves <br /> with office supplies in the upper level mechanical room in city hall shall be moved to a different location. <br /> C;4f-Storage maintained 18 inches below sprinkler heads-MSFC,Chapter 3, Section 315.2.1,(enclosed)—Storage boxes in <br /> copying room are to close to ceiling fire sprinkler head. Storage shall be removed or sprinkler head can be relocated to center <br /> ceiling tile. <br /> D; 7a-Fire extinguishers readily accessible-MSFC,Chapter 9, Section 906.6(enclosed)—Fire extinguishers shall be <br /> relocated to wall at the top landing in the upper levels of both city hall and police department buildings. <br /> E; 13a-Police and Fire key boxes-MSFC,Chapter 5, Section 506.1,(enclosed)—Access key boxes sha11 be purchased and <br /> installed above FD connection for both addresses listed above. <br /> F;The PD training room being an assembly area I am also recommending that smoke detectors be added to this room. <br /> City maintenance garag� <br /> A; 3c-Fire door missing-MSFC,Chapter 7, Section 703.1,(enclosed)—Fire door accessing the welding room has been <br /> removed.
