were black mucky loam to 16 inches meeting the F1 indicator for hydric soil (loamy mucky
mineral). Free water was observed at 10 inches below the soil surface in the sample borehole.
Secondary indicators of wetland hydrology included geomorphic position and the FAC-Neutral
Test.
Adjacent upland at the sample location was dominated by Kentucky bluegrass with lesser
amounts of smooth brome and Canada goldenrod. Soils at the upland transect location were
black silty clay loam to 14 inches, underlain by black clay loam to 46 meeting the Al2 indicator
for hydric soil (thick dark surface) (professional experience). No primary or secondary
indicators of wetland hydrology were observed.
The delineated boundary followed an abrupt change in vegetation composition and a slight
change in topography. Wetland 1 corresponded to an NWI mapped PEMF/PEMC wetland and
DNR Protected Wetland 842W,and an area mapped with hydric soils(Glencoe and Klossner)on
the soil survey. Wetland 1 rated as a Mange 1 wetland based on on-site observations and our
MnRAM analysis.
Wetland 2 was a Type 1 (PEMAd)partially drained, fresh meadow wetland swale dominated by
reed canary grass. Soils observed below the wetland boundary were black clay loam to 46
inches meeting the Al2 indicator for hydric soil (thick dark surface) (professional experience).
No free water or saturated soils were observed in the sample borehole. Secondary indicators of
wetland hydrology included geomorphic position and the FAC-Neutral Test.
Adjacent upland at the sample location was dominated by Kentucky bluegrass with lesser
amounts of Canada goldenrod and reed canary grass. Upland soils were black clay loam to 46
inches meeting the Al2 indicator for hydric soil(thick dark surface) (professional experience).
No primary or secondary indicators of wetland hydrology were observed.
The delineated boundary followed an abrupt change in vegetation composition and a slight
change in topography. Wetland 2 did not correspond to any NWI mapped wetlands, but was
located within an area mapped with very poorly drained, poorly drained, and somewhat poorly
drained soils (Hamel-Glencoe)on the soil survey. Wetland 2 rated as a Mange 2 wetland based
on on-site observations and our MnRAM analysis.
Wetland 3 was a Type 1 (PEMA)fresh meadow wetland dominated by reed canary grass. Soils
observed below the wetland boundary were black clay loam to 46 inches meeting the Al2
indicator for hydric soil(thick dark surface)(professional experience). No free water or
saturated soils were observed in the sample borehole.
