This is what we
concluded:
1. The mulch on the lower slope must be replaced by a blanket mulch. Sherri indicated
this could be a straw blanket Type 2S or a cocoanut fiber blanket. The former is
cheaper but the latter looks more natural. This blanket should cover all bare soil on the
lower slope. Sherri named Brock White in St. Paul as one source for blankets.
(www.brockwh ite.com).
2. The material that has washed up against the silt fence (and beyond) should be
removed. It could be spread on the slope if you can get it to stay in place.
3. To prevent erosion, the slope at the end of the dry creek bed should be covered with
the cocoanut fiber blanket and held in place with some large rocks.
In addition the missing grass plants on the lower slope need to be planted. There is
electrical conduit (for a light?) where the last juniper should go on the upper slope.
See if you can fit it in. All bare soil should be covered by the blanket mulch or by the
shredded wood mulch.
cc by mail: Pete Bazil
