The list includes a variety of native species and varieties or cultivars of
native species of shrubs, grasses and forbs.
• The landscape plan does not include a scale, so it is difficult to determine the proposed spacing of the plant
material. Inclusion of a scale is a standard requirement on landscape plans. The plans should be resubmitted,
including a scale so that spacing of plants and adequacy given the site conditions can be determined. This is
important given the slopes on the site.
• The slopes on the site are relatively steep—including 3:1 and 2.5:1 slope areas. Given the proximity to the lake,
erosion may occur while the plantings are becoming established—particularly if they are widely spaced.
• On the 3:1 slopes, fabric(straw blanket or coconut fiber)or several inches of mulch should be used to stabilize the
soil and help to hold moisture. The fabric may be placed on the slope and staked according to the manufacturer's
specifications, and then cut to place the plants. Shredded hardwood mulch should be used rather than woodchips
to minimize movement during rain events, if this is selected rather than the fabric.
• On the 2.5:1 slopes, fabric should be used to stabilize the soil. This meets MnDOT specs for plantings on slopes.
The fabric should be placed with the contours, and staked in place according to the manufacturer's directions.
Please call me at(651)604-4758 if you have questions regarding these comments.
Bonestroo,Rosene,Anderlik and Associates,Inc, www.bonestroo.com
❑St Paul Office: ❑Milwaukee Office: ❑Rochester Office: ❑Willmar Office: ❑St.Cloud Office: ❑Grayslake Office:
2335 West Highway 36 1516 West Mequon Road 112 7`"Street NE 205 5th Street SW 3721 23rtl Street S 888 East Belvidere Road
, St.Paul,MN 55113 Mequon,WI 53092 Rochester,MN 55906 Willmar,MN 56201 St.Cloud,MN 56301 Grayslake,IL 60030
Phone:651-636-4600 Phone:262-241-4466 Phone:507-282-2100 Phone:320-214-9557 Phone:320-251-4553 Phone:847-548-6774
Fax:651-636-1311 Fax:262-241-4901 Fax:507-282-3100 Fax:320-214-9458 Fax:320-251-6252 Fax:847-548-6979
