MINUTES OF THE ORONO CITY COUNCIL CANVASSING BOARD MEETING <br /> HELD NOVEMBER 13, 2012 AT 6:45 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />ROLL <br /> <br />The Council met as the Canvassing Board on the above date and time in the Orono Council Chambers. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Lili McMillan, Council Members Cynthia Bremer, Doug <br />Franchot, Aaron Printup and Dave Rahn. The following represented City staff: Assistant City <br />Administrator Michael Gaffron. <br /> <br />Mayor McMillan called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. <br /> <br />CERTIFY RESULTS OF NOVEMBER 6, 2012, MUNICIPAL ELECTION – RESOLUTION NO. <br />6184 <br /> <br />Gaffron stated Minnesota State Election Laws require that the governing board of the City canvass the <br />returns and declare the results of the election within three to ten days after a general election. The <br />Canvassing Board should review the election reports and, if satisfied the reports are correct, the <br />Canvassing Board should certify the results. <br /> <br />Gaffron noted the newly elected officials will be sworn in at the first City Council meeting scheduled for <br />January 14, 2013. While the candidates will be sworn in on January 14th, technically their term of office <br />commences on January 7, 2013. <br /> <br />Gaffron reported that Lili McMillan was re-elected as Mayor, and Kristi Anderson and Lizz Levang were <br />elected to the City Council for a 4-year term. <br /> <br />Printup moved, Franchot seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 6184 to declare Lili McMillan as <br />Mayor for a 2-year term beginning January 7, 2013, to declare Kristi Anderson and Lizz Levang as <br />Council Members for a 4-year term beginning January 7, 2013, and to certify the results of the <br />November 6, 2012 municipal election as follows: <br /> <br />Mayor Votes Council Member Votes <br />Lili McMillan 3,422 Kristi Anderson 2,118 <br />Write In 76 Lizz Levang 1,831 <br /> Dennis Walsh 1,707 <br /> Doug Franchot 963 <br /> Write-In 32 <br /> <br />Vote: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Printup moved, Bremer seconded, to adjourn the Canvassing Board meeting at 6:50 p.m. <br />VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />____________________________________ ____________________________________ <br />Linda S.
