MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />Monday, May 28, 2013 <br />5:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Lili McMillan, Council Members Kristi Anderson, Cynthia Bremer, Lizz Levang and <br />Aaron Printup; representing Staff were City Administrator Jessica Loftus, Assistant City <br />Administrator Mike Gaffron, Planning/Zoning Coordinator Melanie Curtis, Finance Director <br />Ron Olson, and Public Works Director/City Engineer Jesse Struve. <br /> <br />The City Council received an update from the planning department about zoning inquiries they have <br />recently received. Discussion ensured regarding how to respond to requests and how to provide <br />background information. The City Council discussed a preplan or sketch plan process for general <br />preliminary review that would not prejudge applications. The City Council requested a possible script to <br />respond to resident/applicant inquiries. The City Council wanted to hear about patterns or areas of <br />interest the staff is hearing about from residents. <br /> <br />Jim Grube, Director of the Hennepin County Transportation Department, presented the latest <br />information regarding the CSAH 112 turnback project including recommendations from the Project <br />Advisory Committee. Mr. Grube reviewed the project segments and modifications since the open <br />house. He also reviewed potential speed zone changes and cost estimates. <br /> <br />The City Council discussed elements of the plan and requested the trail be removed from Segment 1 and <br />the full utility burial for $609,000in Segment 2 be removed. <br /> <br />Mr. Grube explained another open house would be hosted in July to collect citizen input on the concept <br />plans. <br /> <br />Mayor McMillan noted that a letter from the City of Wayzata was received to ask for support of a scenic <br />byway designation on select county roads around Lake Minnetonka. <br /> <br />There were no comments regarding Information Update items. <br /> <br />The meeting closed at 6:50 p.m. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />________________________________________ _______________________________________ <br />Rachel Dodge, City Clerk Lili Tod McMillan, Mayor <br />Item #02 - CC Agenda - 06/10/2013 <br />Approval of Council Work Session Minutes 05/28/2013 <br />[Page 1 of 1]
