MnDOT 2012 Safety Enhancement Pro ' ect : <br /> J <br /> Project purpose to provide additional notification to motorists <br /> that TH 12 is a two-lane, two direction roadway <br /> Short Term : <br /> ► MnDOT installed additional two-way traffic signs in 201 1 <br /> Longer Term : <br /> ► Current project will install centerline rumble strips to provide <br /> audible notification that TH 12 is a two-lane, two direction roadway. <br /> FHWA study indicates that centerline rumble strips reduce head-on <br /> and sideswipe injury crashes by 38-50% on rural two-lane roadways. <br /> ► Current project will restripe TH 12 with contrasting pavement <br /> markings on each side of centerline rumble strip. Center yellow <br /> skips and no-passing yellow striping will be placed over a wider, <br /> black background.
