Section 26-31 Definidons of the City of Orono Municipal Code is <br /> hereby amendsd by adding the following text: <br /> Rent shall mean, for the purpose of this definition, leasin¢, subleasing lettin or hirinQ for <br /> occupancv. <br /> Short-term rentad shall mean the rental to a t�erson or groun of persons a residential unit for a <br /> e�riod of less than thirtv(30)consecutive calendar davs in a zonin�district where residential <br /> uses are allowed. <br /> Short-term rental property means a parcel of real property and includes the premises upon which <br /> a short-term rental unit is iocated and the parking azeas driveways landscaping accessorv <br /> structures fences wa1ls swi ools hot tubs and s <br /> SECTION 2. Article IV.—Short Term Rentals of the City of Orono Municipal <br /> Code is hereby added by adding the following text: <br /> Section 26-80—Short term rentallicenses <br /> {a) Puzpose. The use of residential�ro for short term rental has the potential for <br /> increased traffic.congestion on the streets noise and disre�ectfi�l activity to the <br /> detriment of the neiQhborhood. The City of Orono has de�ternuned that resnonsive <br /> ownership of the rental propertv mitiaates these issues. <br /> (b) ReQuired. It is unlawful for any.t�erson to rent their pro for a,_period less than <br /> 30 davs without first havin�obtained a Business License as outlined in Article II <br /> of this chapter. f Section 26,para.g�phs 31 throu 421 <br /> (c) ReQulation. No license may be issued unless all of the followinQ aze complied <br /> with: <br /> 1. The owner shail ensure that the occupants and guests of a short term rental unit do <br /> not create unreasonable noise or disturbances en�age in disorderly conduct or <br /> violate urovisions of the City of Orono Code or anv State law including those <br /> �rta.ining to noise, disorderly conduct, overcrowding the consumption of <br /> alcohol, or the use of ille�drugs.
