R-2 <br /> <br />SECTION 1 <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br /> <br />1.1 IMPETUS: <br /> <br />The impetus for this report is a request from the City of Orono to evaluate the <br />feasibility of improving Watertown Road. <br /> <br />1.2 REPORT ORGANIZATION: <br /> <br />To address the replacement options in an orderly manner, the report is organized <br />in three (3) sections as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1: Introduction <br />Section 2: Pavement Rehabilitation <br />Section 3: Financing / Funding <br />Figures: Project Maps and Pavement Sections <br />Appendix A: Geotechnical Report <br /> <br />1.3 OVERALL FEASIBILITY AND COST EFFECTIVENESS <br /> <br />All improvements addressed within this report are feasible from a technical <br />standpoint. This study addresses issues with the aging infrastructure including <br />pavement conditions and drainage structures. The improvements are necessary to <br />provide safe and adequate infrastructure, and represent cost effective solutions for <br />doing so. Figure No 1 shows the locations of the proposed project components, <br />divided into potential project segments. <br />
