ARTICLE III DEFINITIONS <br /> 3.1 LJNION: Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. <br /> 3.2 LJNION MEMBER: A member of Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. <br /> 3.3 EMPLOYEE: A member of the exclusively recognized bargaining unit. <br /> 3.4 DEPARTMENT: The City of Orono Police Department. <br /> 3.5 EMPLOYER: The City of Orono. <br /> 3.6 CHIEF: The Chief of the City of Orono Police Department. <br /> 3.7 UNION OFFICER: Officer elected or appointed by Law Enforcement Labor Services,Inc. <br /> 3.8 OVERTIME: Work performed at the express authorization of the EMPLOYER in excess of <br /> the employee's scheduled shift. <br /> 3.9 SCHEDULED SHIFT: A consecutive work period including rest breaks and a lunch break. <br /> 3.10 REST BREAKS: Periods during the SCHEDULED SHIFT during which the employee <br /> remains on continual duty and is responsible for assigned duties. <br /> 3.11 LiTNCH BREAKS: A period during the SCHEDULED SHIFT during which the employee <br /> remains on continual duty and is responsible for assigned duties. <br /> 3.12 RESIGNATION: Resignation with two (2) weeks advance notice. <br /> 3.13 PART-TIME EMPLOYEE: An employee who works a regular schedule of fourteen(14)or <br /> more hours per week,but less than thirty-five(3 5)hours per week. The determination of the <br /> regular schedule will be made on a quarterly basis. If an employee works more than 182 <br /> hours in a quarter,the employee will be considered to be a part-time employee until the next <br /> quarterly determination. <br /> ARTICLE IV EMPLOYER SECURITY <br /> LELS agrees that during the life of this AGREEMENT that LELS will not cause, encourage, <br /> participate in or support any strike,slowdown or other interruption of or interference with the normal <br /> functions of the EMPLOYER. <br /> 2 <br />
