The bargaining <br /> committee (City Attorney Mattick, Councilmember Printup and Administrator Loftus) has met <br /> with the police officers union (Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS Local No. 40)) to <br /> negotiate a new labor agreement. <br /> There was considerable negotiation time spent on wages and insurance. Highlights of the new <br /> agreement include: <br /> • Three year contract duration: 2014, 2015 and 2016 <br /> • W�a es <br /> 2% in 2014 <br /> 2.5% in 2015 <br /> 2.75% in 2016 <br /> • Insurance contribution <br /> $915 for singles and $1,090 for family in 2014 <br /> $915 for singles and $1,090 plus 50% of any increase to the family premium in 2015 <br /> $915 for singles and 2015 family amount plus 50% of any increase to family premium <br /> There were also many requests from the union including increases to compensatory time, <br /> vacation, and a physical fitness incentive, which did not make it into the contract after the <br /> negotiation sessions. No substantive language changes to benefits were agreed upon except to <br /> increase to the number of holidays to include Christmas Eve based upon market data. <br /> Council Action Requested: <br /> Consider a motion to approve the attached "Labor Agreement Between the City of Orono and <br /> Law Enforcement Labor Services (Local No. 40) —Patrol Officers 2014-2016". <br />
