• Advise homeowners, builders, architects, contractors, residents and others concerning building <br /> code provisions and construction methods including minimum standards of construction and <br /> materials <br /> • Manage the City's individual on-site Septic System Program <br /> • Review plans and specifications for on-site septic systems, inspect installations and keep records <br /> • Prepare complex reports and letters <br /> • Assist staff in resolving technical questions relating to various code requirements <br /> • Make presentations to the City Council, commissions and other groups <br /> • Explain city polices to the public, developers and builders <br /> • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies and priorities <br /> • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate government bodies, private firms, <br /> organizations or individuals to assist in achieving City objectives and ensuring compliance with <br /> appropriate laws and development standards <br /> • Assist in resolving disputes between the City and contractors <br /> • Advise the City Administrator, Community Development Director, Director of Public Works and <br /> other department heads on building services activities <br /> • Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned. <br /> REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: <br /> To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function <br /> satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills,and/or abilities <br /> required. <br /> • Thorough knowledge of codes, principles, practices and methods associated with building <br /> standards, plan check and building inspection <br /> • Familiarity with engineering and building construction principles and concepts. <br /> • Read, understand and interpret construction blueprints, plans and speci�cations <br /> • Inspect and analyze building construction and to identify code violations <br /> • Solve complex building inspection and code related problems <br /> • Supervise,train and evaluate assigned staff <br /> • Prepare analytical reports of a budgetary,technical and evaluative nature <br /> • Establish and maintain systems needed for control of work quality and quantity <br /> • Stand, bend, sit, kneel, lift, reach and move about quickly and safely in construction projects and <br /> business office work locations <br />
