�. � <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 53 , SECOND SERIES <br /> A WATER USE CONTROL ORDINANCE REGULATING THE <br /> USE OF WATER DURING PERIODS OF WATER SHORTAGE <br /> The City Council of the City of Orono ordains as follows: <br /> Section ' 3.10 is amended by adding the following <br /> lanquaae <br /> Section 1. Purpose. <br /> In order to avoid a water shortage due to inadequate capacity in <br /> � water systems, to ensure an adequate water supply for fire <br /> protection, to protect the environment of Lake Minnetonka, to <br /> ensure the protection of subterranean aquifers, to maintain the <br /> � quality of domestic water supplies, and to protect the general <br /> health, safety and welfare of the residents, the following <br /> � reguiations on non-essential water uses shall apply during periods <br /> of water shortages. <br /> Section 2. Implementation of Restrictions. <br /> Whenever the City Council shall determine that a shortage of water <br /> threatens the City, it may enact by resolution the restrictions <br /> for non-essential water use set forth in this ordinance. The <br /> resolution shall become effective 24 hours after passage and <br /> publication. <br /> The resolution shall contain the following information: <br /> � (1) uses of water that will be restricted; <br /> (2) types of water supply which will be restricted, such <br /> as the public water system, private wells, lake or <br /> other surface water system; <br /> (3) times during which the restriction will apply; <br /> (4) whether the use restrictions will apply to all <br /> property in the City or will vary depending upon <br /> � location or identification of property; <br /> (5) when the restrictions will be implemented and when <br /> they will terminate; and <br /> (6) whether the restrictions will be voluntary or <br /> involuntary. <br /> Section 3. Notice. <br /> Whenever the City Council enacts the restrictions in this <br /> ordinance, it shall take such action as is reasonably practicable <br /> to notify the general public of the restrictions. The notice <br /> shall be posted on t'he City's bulletin board and shall be <br /> published in the local newspaper. The notice shall include the <br /> information described in Section 2 (1-6) . <br /> 1 <br />
