� l 3287.12 <br /> ., < � 1'--�► <br /> � � <br /> � <br /> ORDINANCE NUMBER 31, SECOND SERIES <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE SECTION 2.50 ENTITLED BOARDS AND <br /> COMMISSIONS GENERALLY AND SECTION 2.51, ENTITLED PLANNING <br /> COMMISSION, SIIBD. 1. <br /> The City Council of the City of Orono ordains: <br /> Section 2.50 and entitled Boards and Commissions <br /> Generally is amended to read: <br /> Al1 Board and Commission appointments authorized by <br /> ordinance shall be made by the Council at the first regular <br /> meeting in January of each year unless another appointment date <br /> is established elsewhere in ordinance. The term of each <br /> appointee shall be established and stated at the time of his <br /> appointment, and terms of present Board and Commission members <br /> may be re-established and changed so as to give effect to this <br /> Section. New appointees shall assume office immediately. <br /> Provided, however, that all appointees to Boards and Commissions <br /> shall hold office until their successor is appointed and <br /> qualified. All vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as <br /> for an expired term, but the appointment shall be only for the <br /> unexpired term. No appointed Board or Commission member shall be <br /> an employee of the City, but an ex officio member may be so <br /> emp loyed. All appointed Board and Commission members shal 1 serve <br /> without remuneration, but may be reimbursed for out-of-pocket <br /> expenses incurred in the performance of their duties when such <br /> expenses have been authorized by the Council before they were <br /> incurred. The officers shall be appointed by the Council <br /> annually. Any Board or Commission member may be removed by the <br /> Council for any reason and his position filled as any other <br /> vacancy. Each Board and Commission shall hold its regular <br /> meetings at a time established and approved by the Council. <br /> Boards and Commissions created by resolution shall terminate when <br /> the purpose for which they were created has been accomplished or <br /> upon the expiration of the terms stated in the resolution. <br /> Except as otherwise provided, this Section shall apply to all <br /> Boards and Commissions. <br /> Section 2.51 and entitled Planning Commission is amended to <br /> read: <br /> Subd. l. A Planning Commission composed of seven <br /> members, who serve staggered 3 year terms is hereby established. <br /> The period of these terms is from 1 April to 31 March and shall <br /> be appointed by the 2nd business meeting in March. <br /> It is the policy of the Council to appoint persons to <br /> the Planning Commission as follows: <br /> Two of the members shall reside in and be appointed to <br /> represent the Rural Service Area of the City as defined <br /> in the Comprehensive Management Plan, two members <br /> residing in and appointed to represent the Urban Service <br /> , <br />
