ORONO POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />Date: August 22, 2016 <br />Item No: 9 <br /> <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Department Approval: Administrator Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />Name: Correy Farniok JML Public Safety <br />Title: Police Chief <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Item Description: Amended and Restated West Metro Drug Task Force (Joint Powers <br />Agreement) <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />On July 27, 2004 Orono Police Department along with Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, <br />Medina Police Department, West Hennepin Department of Public Safety, and Mound Police <br />Department entered into a joint powers agreement and formed the West Metro Drug Task Force <br />(WMDTF). <br /> <br />As of August 15, 2016, the Minnetrista Police Department will be joining the WMDTF. The <br />amended agreement reflects the addition of the City of Minnetrista entering the joint powers and <br />removes the City of Mound (Mound Police Department) from the agreement. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> <br />Consider a motion to approve the Amended and Restated West Metro Drug Task Force (Joint <br />Powers Agreement). <br />
