MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL CANVASSING BOARD MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 10, 2014 <br />6:45 o’clock p.m. <br />____________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ELECTION STATISTICS AND RECOGNITION <br /> <br />Dodge stated overall voter turnout was 66.08 percent for the general election, with a total of 609 absentee <br />ballots that were processed for the 2014 General Election. With this year’s decreased staff at City Hall, it <br />was decided to hire part-time ballot judges and ballot clerks to fill in and help process absentee ballots. <br />Staff would like to recognize Sandie Larson, Bonnie Kaster, Whitney Tucker, Sandra Keegan, and Sandra <br />Lindgren for their help during the 2014 election season. During the primary election, one of the students <br />from Orono High School, Marshall Will, who is majoring in politics, volunteered his time and helped <br />prepare for the election. Marshall also volunteered to serve as a student judge during the primary <br />election. Staff would like to recognize Marshall’s efforts and make other high school students aware of <br />this opportunity. <br /> <br />In addition, during the general election on of the Council Members, Lizz Levang, volunteered her time to <br />help with some of the last minute election processes. Staff would like to recognize Lizz for her team <br />spirit in doing what it takes to get the job done. <br /> <br />Dodge stated during every election season it takes a team of election judges to work on Election Day to <br />ensure that the election process runs smoothly. Staff would like to thank all the election judges that <br />worked during the primary and general elections during 2014. Dodge noted a thank you letter to each of <br />the Election Judges has been included in the Council’s packet. <br /> <br />Bremer moved, Printup seconded to recognize the volunteers at the 2014 General Election. VOTE: <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br /> <br />Levang thanked Rachel Dodge for her outstanding work during the election process. <br /> <br />Bremer congratulated Aaron Printup, Dennis Walsh, Lili McMillan, and Jim Cornick for being elected to <br />the Orono City Council. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Levang moved, Bremer seconded, to adjourn the Canvassing Board meeting at 6:55 p.m. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />____________________________________ ____________________________________ <br />Diane Tiegs, City Clerk Lili Tod McMillan, Mayor <br />
