SI'P' EVAIU:TIOiI RPORT N,S rIEM H
S gEH
i'OR HARPISON R. JOHPISTOII,JI3. RiJ
ORONO, MINNESOTA
l0-2-80
DurinQ October 17-22, 1980 all five proposed lots in the sub-
division of Harrison JoYL~ston, Jr. were tested for the suitability
of supportin on-site drainfield sy:ters. ix parcolation holes
were tested on each lot and three soil borings taken on e<3cl
to dstermino boti ' nrima ainfield sites i'he
colatin holes were dug 6 inches in diar-eter to the 4 foot depth
except the altornate site on lot 1, block 2 where holos 5-6 were
dug 2 feet de3 to test for a ahallow trench ystem. e ho es were
u i h both porer and hand augers.
The soil borinrs were du6 Z•rith hand auerA and were o iriches
in diameter to the 4 foot depth and 3 inches in dia.netar to the re-
rainin depth, aoma very permeable soils were found on n:ost lots
anca all lotc .acl sufficient percolation rates to qualify for stan-
dard drainfield systems. The alternate site on lot 1, block 1 will
require sr.allower trenches to avoid the water table. The trenche
on the primary site of lot 1, block 3 will also neod to te conat-
ructeci fairly shallow and sn intercetor drain should be used to
divert runoff water from this site ainoe the lot is bowl shaped
an
Better soil was encountered shallower on the alternate site
of lot 1, block 2 so ahallow trenahes should be used here In lot ;
0 oci a pump w pro a ly be needed aince a est aoils
exist on top of the hill. It also might be nacessary to use putnpa
on other lots depending on th placement of the houses. Additional
design inforrnation for the individuel houses will be naeded prior
to construction. It is imparative that these tested aree not be
disturbed since there are som ataep sidehill slopes on some lots
and some prohibitive soils and water tab: :: near tl= marshes which
may nreclude any other areas being used f'or drainfie.lds,
If any additional in'ormQtion is needed, please contaat me.
 _ . i
