MINUTES OF THE , <br /> ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Monday,September 9,2013 <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> (MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT, Continued) <br /> Anderson comxnended the Wayzata Business Chamber on the success of the James J.Hill Days. <br /> McMillan stated she also attended James J. Hill Days and that the entertainment was very good. <br /> McMillan noted Jeff Dayton from Orono was back in the area and that he put together a band that <br /> performed on the free stage. <br /> McMillan reported the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District conducted a boat tour of Lake Minnetonka <br /> and the Big Island area for local mayors, city administrators and managers last Thursday night. The tour <br /> provided a good opportunity for the Watershed District to illustrate the bluff restoration work that was <br /> performed. McMillan indicated they also toured a couple of other sites as well in the Lake Minnetonka <br /> area where work was performed by the Watershed District. <br /> CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br /> Loftus noted the Planning Commission has been working on the City's alternative energy ordinance and <br /> that some information on the ordinance and upcoming work session has been included on the City's <br /> website. The Planning Comxnission's work session is scheduled for September 16 at 6:30 p.m.,and <br /> public input is welcome. <br /> Loftus stated the joint meeting between Long Lake and Orono has been scheduled for October 1 and Jim <br /> Grube has indicated he would like to also attend that meeting to discuss County Road 112 or Old <br /> Highway 12 and Hennepin County's cost participation. Loftus stated the City will likely receive some <br /> new information on the road at the meeting which will help Orono identify the costs in the City's CIP for <br /> 2014. <br /> Loftus noted the Navarre Community Initiative meeting is scheduled for October 14 at 5 p.m. <br /> *11. DONATION—OUTLOT D SUGAR WOODS AND AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS— <br /> RESOLUTION N0.63Z1 <br /> Levang moved,Printup seconded,to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 6321,a Resolution Acknowledging <br /> a Donation from S.B.Rebers Trust and to direct Staff and the City Attorney to prepare a quit <br /> claim deed in order to finalize and accept the donation. VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> 12. ENGAGEMENT AGREEMENT <br /> Mattick noted the engagement agreement between the City of Orono and Brian Grogan of Moss& <br /> Barnett was discussed at the last City Council workshop. Mayor McMillan and Council Member Levang <br /> are on the LMCC subcommittee and it was the recommendation of the subcommittee to engage the <br /> services of Brian Grogan and to utilize his expertise in franchising. Mr. Grogan had indicated he would <br /> prefer to sign the agreement with the City of Orono rather than the LMCC. The Council had indicated <br /> that would be fine with the caveat that the payment would not exceed$2,500. Mattick noted once the bill <br /> is received by the City,it would be submitted to the LMCC for payment. <br /> Page 8 of 11 <br />
