The attached soil borings show a loam
to clay loam soil profile with red and gray mottles found at a depth of 24 to 43 inches at the primary and alternate septic
sites. The percolation rates for this sites range from 6 to 10 minutes per inch. Based on this information the primary and
alternate sites wil) require a mound system with 1.0 feet of sand beneath the upslope rock bed.
Typically I will over design a system by 17%as a safety factor, but in this case I believe the effluent flows will resemble
a Type II or Type III flow more so than the Type I flow that this design is based on as required. Taking this into account
the system as designed(per Chapter 7080) should be more than adequate to treat the effluent produced by this residence.
Effluent from the main house will gravity flow from the 1 st floor elevation via a 4 inch PVC pipe through 2 - 1500
gal lon septic tanks to the pump tank. Effluent from the lowest floor of the main house as well as the effluent from the
guest house will be lifted to the 151 tank from where it will gravity flow through the other tank to the pump tank. The
pump tank will deliver the effluent to the mound under pressure via a 2 inch PVC pipe. Somewhat atypical to this design
are the 7/32 dia. perforations for the laterals. This was done to lower the gallons per minute required to pressurize the
manifold in the rock bed.
It is imperative that no compaction is allowed on the septic area before, during or after construction.. To insure that
compaction does not take place I recommend that a barrier fence be placed around the perimeter of the primary and
alternate septic areas during the construction of the house.
Please refer to the enclosed site plan and design sheets for additional details.
Please advise if you have any questions or concerns in regards to this site plan.
Si cerel ,
T llestad MPCA Cert.#1410 DRP Lic #282
stad Land Services
