This will require an upland buffer of 25 feet adjacent to the portion of the wetland that receives the <br /> drainage. A ezisting driveway crosses the buifer so a portion of the buf(er will exist on both sides of the <br /> driveway. Gronberg and Assoicates, Inc. has provided a drawing that accurately depicts the extent of the required <br /> buffer. <br /> Buffer Yegetation Requirements <br /> Most of the buffer is in a natural state and the ordinance only requires that it is preserved (see attached exhibit�. <br /> Only a small portion of the buffer contains turf. The portion of the buffer that is turf will need to have the turf <br /> removed and be restored to native vegetation. A written description of the proposed native seed mix to be seeded <br /> and method of site preparation and seeding should be provided to the firy for review and approval. According to <br /> the ordinance Div. 3 Sec. 18-1605 �3) the seed mix must contain at least 12 pounds (PLS) per acre oi native <br /> prairie grass seed and 5 pounds (PLS) per acre o( native wildFlower seed. The grass mixture must contain a <br /> minimum of four species while the wildflower mixture must contain a minimum of (ive species. Once the native <br /> vegetation is established the bufier area will not 6e allowed ro be mowed unless it is for maintenance after <br /> October I5. <br /> Recommendations <br /> It is recommended that if the application is approved it includes the condition that the applicant needs to meet <br /> the bu(fer vegetation requirement as discussed ia this memo. An escrow amount for $i,900 is recommended to <br /> cover the cost of buffer development if not completed by the applicant and compliance checks. <br />
