Jul 14 03 04: 53p Serving The Environment 7634783612 p. 4 <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> Bill and Helen Waidron Property, 1880 Fox Street,Orono <br /> Approximately 100' of coir Iog will be placed in the water within 1-3' of the bank edge. <br /> The existing bank is a vertical bank 1.5'—2' in height. This area has eroded back several <br /> feet over the past few years. Evidence of tius can be seen in the 2000 photo which shows <br /> the straight pond edge on the east side and the attached photo showing the culvert <br /> extending approximately 3' out into the pond T'he culvert end was originally at the edge <br /> of the pond.The coir log wiIl be staked in the shallaw water as toe protection. Fill will <br /> be placed betwecn the coir log and the existing bank and a more stable slope will be <br /> graded. The work will be campleted using a Bobcat and by hand. Fill will be limited to <br /> 390 square feet within the wetlaad. A total of 40—48 cubic yards of fill is expected for <br /> the total project,which includes placement of soil within the upland areas along the <br /> driveway that have settled. <br /> The exposed soils adjacent to the pond will be covered with erosion control blanket and <br /> seeded with a cover crop and permanent vegetation. The coir log will be placed prior to <br /> any filling and will serve as an erosian and sedimeat control device within the pond. <br /> Native species will be used along the pond edge as an approximately 6' wide buffer. <br /> Native plant plugs will be planted within the erosion control blanke� Turf grass will be <br /> used fvr the remaining areas adjacent to the driveway. <br /> Work will begin as soon as approval is received and is expected to be completed wit}rin 2 <br /> weeks,but no later than October 1,2003. <br />
