USE AND VEGETATION: Most of these soils are cropped to corn, grain, hay, and <br /> soybeans. Some areas are used for pasture and some are forested. Native vegetation is <br /> mixed prairie and forest species. <br /> DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: South central Minnesota and north-central lowa. The <br /> series is of moderate extent. <br /> MLRA OFFICE RESPONSIBLE: St. Paul, Minnesota <br /> SERIES ESTABLISHED: Waseca County, Minnesota, 1963. <br /> REMARKS: Diagnostic horizons and features recognized in this pedon are: Ochric <br /> epipedon - the zone from the soil surface to a depth of 9 inches (Ap horizon); Argillic <br /> horizon - the zone from 9 to 53 inches (Bt 1, Bt2, Bt3 horizons); Oxyaquic subgroup <br /> based on saturation above a depth of 40 inches; Vertic subgroup based on more than 6 cm <br /> of COLE in upper 40 inches. Water table studies and field observations have verified a <br /> perched condition in most years, particularly in periods of extended rainfall. <br /> ADDITIONAL DATA: Soil lnterpretation Record number MN0376. <br />
