MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON JUNE 23,1997 <br />( #26 ifig?way 12 Design Committee Appointments - Continued) <br />West Neighborhood Committ ee <br />Gail Bollis - Chair <br />Roger Dumas <br />Brian Fulmer <br />Bob Sansevere <br />Jeffrey Martin <br />Donna C rotteauiBetty Bruning (these two women will split their duties) <br />Clint Miller <br />East Neighborhood Committee <br />Lili McMillan - Co Chair <br />Clark Jenney - Co Chair <br />James Palmer <br />Julie Palmer <br />Karen Anderson <br />(R #27) AUTHORIZATION TO P"HATE AN INTERNAL PROMOTION <br />PROCESS FOR A SERGEANT POSITION <br />Goetten moved, Flint seconded, to approve the creation of a sergeant classification in the <br />Police Department with a base pay rate of $22.13/hour and a 3- 5 -7 -9% longevity pay <br />schedule. The motion authorizes an internal promotional process to appoint a sergeant. <br />Vote: Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />( #28) LOCAL PERFORMANCE AID CERTIFICATION <br />Flint asked Moorse if he felt the participation in the program was worth the cost. <br />Moorse said he did, and this opinion was further substantiated by information recently <br />received. The League of Cities is currently developing general performance standards for <br />use and other cities are also working towards that goal. <br />Flint moved, Goetten seconded, to authorize the Mayor and one Council Member to sign <br />the LPA certification. Vote: Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />(x #29) GARY CHESWICK SALARY STEP INCREASE <br />Goetten moved, Flint seconded, to approve a salary step increase for Gary Cheswick to <br />step 3 of the Police Chief salary range, which is $59,883, effective June 16, 1997. Vote: <br />Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />Goetten asked that appreciation be extended to Cheswick for his excellent performance. • <br />LT <br />
