MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON MARCH 10, 1997 <br />. (Park Commission Candidate Interviews - Continued) <br />Candidate, Peter Welles, participated in initiating the use of the golf course for winter <br />activities. He said he prefers open space and trails. He has been involved with open <br />space through development projects. He would like to see improvements made at the old <br />Council chamber site to better serve those residents. He believes the public and private <br />sectors can be tapped for funding and with Park Dedication through development. He is <br />not familiar with the Comprehensive Plan or survey. He believes the Council should set <br />the tone for the Park Commission, who carries out the interests of the Council and <br />implements the strategy. <br />Welles believes zoning alternatives should be considered such as clustered housing with <br />use of dedicated open space. <br />(The meeting was recessed from 8:10 to 8:18 p.m.) <br />( * #2) CONSENT AGENDA <br />Items #9 and 15 were added to the Consent Agenda. <br />Goetten moved, Peterson seconded, to approve the Consent Agenda as amended. Vote: <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0.
