ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 28, 1998 <br />• ( #2418 Robert Lund on behalf of Graydon and Michelle Newman, continued) <br />Kris Hoff, a Representative of Robert Lund Associates Architects, LTD., was present on behalf <br />of Graydon and Michelle Newman. <br />Weinberger stated the Planning Commission has recommended approval of this application which <br />calls for a variance to the average lakeshore setback and a variance to the hardcover within the <br />75' -250' Lakeshore setback. <br />Goetten inquired whether the residence was existing at the time the 26.7 percent hardcover was <br />approved. <br />Weinberger stated the house was not torn down at that time. <br />Goetten commented when a residence is torn down and a new residence constructed, it is the <br />policy of the City Council to have the new residence conform to the 25 percent hardcover limit. <br />Goetten inquired whether the guest house still exists. <br />Hoff replied that the guest house still exists. <br />Weinberger stated there is no conditional use permit for the guest house. <br />Hoff stated the variance to the hardcover has already been granted and the Applicants are <br />• requesting to revise their plan. <br />Mayor Jabbour stated the house was removed in October, 1997. <br />Kelley stated he agreed with Mayor Jabbour and Goetten in their view that hardcover should be <br />limited to 25 percent on the new residence. Kelley inquired why the guest house was not included in <br />the application when the Applicants applied for a building permit to construct a new residence. <br />Weinberger indicated the guest house is an existing structure. <br />Goetten inquired whether the proposed driveway will be adequate. <br />Peterson moved, Jabbour seconded, to deny Application #2418, 1655 Bohn's Point Road. <br />VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />( #11) #2419 ROBERT LUND ON BEHALF OF WILLIAM AND ANASTASIA HOEFT, 1725 <br />BOHN'S POINT ROAD - VARIANCE - RESOLUTION NO. 4169 <br />Kris Hoff, a Representative of Robert Lund Associates Architects, LTD., was present on behalf of <br />William and Anastasia Hoeft. <br />Weinberger stated the Applicants are requesting to construct a new residence on the property. <br />• Hoff commented the Applicants are proposing to construct the residence at this location to avoid <br />Page 9 <br />
