masonry and stud back up walls. <br /> DIMENSION LUMBER <br /> Design assumes lumber is free of splits and checks and contractor will visually inspect <br /> during installation. <br /> All lumber is to be grade stamped which is to contain grading agency, mill number or <br /> name, grade of lumber, species or species grouping or combination designation, rules <br /> under which graded, where applicable, and condition of seasoning at time of <br /> manufacture. <br /> All lumber shall be seasoned to a moisture content of 19% or less, with the indication <br /> of "S-Dry" on the grade stamp. <br /> All lumber shall be protected from the elements until which time it is used in <br /> construction. <br /> Lumber grading rules and wood species shall conform to Voluntary Products Standard <br /> PS 20-70 as published by the Department of Commerce. Grading rules shall be by an <br /> agency certified by the Board of Review of the American Lumber Standards <br /> Committee. <br /> Sills and all other lumber in contact with concrete or within 18" of contacting soil, shall <br /> be pressure treated impregnated with waterborne preservative in accordance with the <br /> American Wood Preservative Bureau (AWPB) Standard LP-2. <br /> Sill plates to be bolted to foundation wall with 5/8" anchor bolts @ 4'-0" o.c. max. to <br /> extend 11" minimum into solidly grouted foundation wall. Each sill plate to have a <br /> minimum of 2 bolts with one bolt located within 12" of each end of each piece, but not <br /> less than 4"from each end. <br /> All fasteners in contact with treated lumber shall be G185 hot dipped galvanized. <br /> Minimum nailing to be in accordance with Table 2304.9.1 of IBC unless noted <br /> otherwise. <br /> Exterior walis to have 2 x 6 studs @ 16" o.c. unless noted otherwise. <br /> Interior bearing walls to have 2 x 6 studs @ 16" o.c. unless noted otherwise. <br /> tnterior non-load bearing walls to have 2 x 4 studs @ 16" o.c. unless noted otherwise. <br /> Wood lintels and headers shall have a full 3" length of bearing at each end. <br /> Wood joists shall bear the full width of supporting members (stud wall, beams, etc.) <br /> unless otherwise noted. <br /> All beams and joists not bearing on supporting members shall be framed with <br /> "USP"joist hangers or equal. <br /> Spacing of bridging for joists shall not exceed 8'-0". <br /> All plywood and OSB shall be installed per American Plywood Association standards, <br /> including using construction adhesive for fastening to floor joists. <br /> Wall sheathing shall be 1/2" CDX, Exp. 1, plywood with a 32/16 span rating. <br /> Roof sheathing shall be 5/8" CDX, Exp. 1, plywood or OSB with a 32/16 span rating. <br /> Floor sheathing shall be 3/4" CDX, Exp. 1, tongue and groove plywood or OSB with a <br /> 48/24 span rating. <br /> Fasten all roof, wall, and floor sheathing to framing members with minimum 8d nails at <br /> 6" o.c. at panel edges and at 12" o.c. at intermediate supports, unless shown otherwise. <br /> Apply all floor and roof sheathing with long dimension perpendicular to framing and <br /> stagger joints. <br /> Gypsum sheathing to be min. 1/2"fastened with 6d cooler or wallboard nails at 7" o.c. <br /> to all framing members unless noted. <br /> ENGINEERED LUMBER I-JOISTS <br /> I-joist members noted on drawings are engineered laminated veneer lumber with webs <br /> and flanges, as manufactured by the Trus-Joist MacMillan Corporation. Alternate at <br /> contractors option of equal design properties. <br /> Sizes shown on plan are actual. <br />
