. t <br /> � ' � PC ExhibltB ' <br /> Description of Reauest <br /> 4156 Highwood Road,Orono Minnesota <br /> Scott and Melissa Musgjerd <br /> We are requesting that the City of Orono grant us the variances needed to build our new home at 4156 <br /> Highwood Road. We purchased,thi5 property-hoping to remove the existing home and build our dream <br /> home on the lake. We are seeking two considerationsfrom the City of Orono: <br /> 1) A minimum lot width variance to allow us to build on a lot that is legally non-conforming. � <br /> � 2) A hardcover variance that is equal to X%or Y%more than the maximum allowed. <br /> We are working with Mike Sharratt of Sharratt Design &Co.and David Bieker of Denali Custom Homes <br /> �-.. in the planning and design of our new home. We have met with Melanie Curtis once to reuiew the � <br /> original plan for the home and have revised our program and design based on her comments and <br /> recommendations. We are working to come up with e home that both suits our needs as a family of five <br /> and works within the guidelines approved by the City of Orono as closely as possible. The current home <br /> is only 2 feet away from the property line that is shared with the neighbor to the east. We have worked <br /> to design the new home so that we are.10 feet away on that side;thus working within the setbacks put <br /> � into place by the City. There is a fire lane on the western side of the property. This fire lane is <br /> overgrown and in bad condition. The rain water from the fire lane now runs across our property and is <br /> eroding the beach. We want to work with the City to improve this area,working on the drainage issues <br /> so that it benefits all-interested parties. <br /> If you look at the plans,you will see a home that would�blend well into the neighborhood. We are not <br /> '� a"sking.to build something that is bigger than any of the other homes. We are asking for a smaller home <br /> that allows our family to live the way we've dreamed. We have three boys who are anxiously awaiting a <br /> summer on the lake. This has been our dream for the last 10 years,and we are very excited to see it all <br /> happening. We look forward to working with the City on this process. We chose the City of Orono for <br /> various reasons and did not shy away when people told us not to pursue our plans. We have met <br /> numerous neighbors.over on Highwood Road, and they,too,are excited to see the old home go and the <br /> charm of our new home go up.
