El <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING HELD <br />FEBRUARY 6, 1989, ORONO COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:02 P.M. by Mayor James <br />Grabek with the following members in attendance: Mayor James <br />Grabek, Councilmember J. Diann Goetten, Barbara Peterson, Ed <br />Callahan and Alan Nettles. Also in attendance were Administrator <br />Bernhardson, Building and Zoning Administrator Mabusth and <br />Assistant Planning and Zoning Administrator Gaffron. The Mayor <br />indicated that the special meeting had been called to address the <br />issue of the Acting Mayor appointment. Mayor Grabek moved, <br />Councilmember Nettles seconded, the appointment of Councilmember <br />Ed Callahan as Acting Mayor for a two year term. Ayes 3, <br />Councilmember Goetten indicated that she abstained because she <br />did not feel it appropriate that this matter be conducted outside <br />a regular meeting and Councilmember Peterson indicated that she <br />had cast her vote on this issue at the last meeting. <br />Councilmember Goetten asked City Administrator Mark Bernhardson <br />if notice had been made on this meeting. Administrator <br />Bernhardson indicated that all the members had been notified and <br />that it had been posted in the usual locations. He indicated he <br />• was not sure of notification to the press. <br />Councilmember Goetten went on to indicated that she did not feel <br />it was appropriate that this item be considered because it was an <br />item that was tabled at the last meeting. Further discussion <br />ensued among the Council regarding the conclusion of the meeting <br />on January 23, 1989, and their comments regarding that. <br />On a motion by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember Callahan, <br />the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
